Estimated length: 7 minutes
Thanks for booking your consultation with us at Sydney Cosmetic Dentist. Your appointment is locked in at our practice in Bondi Junction, and the confirmation with all the details is already on its way to your inbox.
While you're here, it's worth knowing what happens next. When you come in, you'll sit down with the team for a proper look at your smile. That means a full examination, photographs, and scans where they're needed, because a smile that's designed for your face starts with understanding what's going on in your mouth. If another dentist has already given you a treatment plan, bring it along. We'll go through it with you line by line and tell you plainly what we'd keep, and what we'd do differently.
Between now and your visit, a few short emails will land in your inbox. Each one answers a question new patients ask us all the time, so when you see them, they're worth the minute they take to read. They're there to save you from walking in with question marks hanging over the whole thing.
Below this video you'll find a set of short clips. They cover the things people most want to know before they come in, like what treatment costs and why we don't publish prices, whether veneers end up looking fake, and what we do for patients who genuinely dread the dentist. Watch the ones that speak to your situation. It means your consultation can skip the basics and go straight into the detail of your own smile.
We're looking forward to meeting you at the practice. See you soon.
You've probably noticed there's no price list sitting on our website, and if you've been quoted very different numbers by different clinics around Sydney, the whole subject can start to feel murky. So I'll explain how pricing works here.
Every smile we design is built for one person. Ten hand-crafted porcelain veneers planned around your face is a completely different case to restoring two chipped front teeth, and both of those are different again to a full mouth reconstruction. A single number on a website would be a guess, and guesses are how patients end up with surprise costs halfway through treatment.
What we do instead is examine your mouth properly at the consultation, design what your smile needs, and put an exact figure in writing before anything begins. You'll know the full cost while you're still deciding, never after.
On affordability, the practice works with payment plan providers including Smile Right and Humm, and with SuperCare, which helps eligible patients apply to access their superannuation for treatment. The team will walk you through the options that fit your circumstances.
And the consultation itself is complimentary. If you're bringing a treatment plan from another dentist for a second opinion, that consultation is valued at $250 and costs you nothing as a new patient. Come in, get examined, and leave with a real number instead of a guess.
It's the question almost everyone brings in with them. You've seen the piano-key veneers on social media, the ones you can spot from across a room, and you'd rather keep your own teeth than end up with those.
That look comes from one-size-fits-all veneers placed without any design work. It's the exact thing our whole process exists to avoid. Dr Peter Poulos developed the Perfect 10™ system over 20 years, and it starts from your defining features. The shape of your face, your lips, the way you smile. Each piece of porcelain is hand-crafted for you, tooth by tooth, so the result reads as a naturally excellent version of your own smile.
You also see it before you commit. Through Digital Smile Design, we show you a preview of your new smile built on your own photographs, while everything is still on the drawing board. If something doesn't feel like you, it gets changed at the design stage, long before anything touches your teeth.
Have a look at the Patient Journeys section on our website before you come in. The before and after cases there are real patients of the practice, and you can judge for yourself how natural the results look. Then at your consultation, tell the team what you like and what worries you, and it'll be designed in from the start.
If the thought of a dental chair makes your stomach drop, you're in good company here, and there's something you should know before you come in. A large share of our patients arrived exactly the same way. Some of them hadn't seen a dentist in years and were braced for a lecture about it.
That lecture doesn't happen at this practice. Nobody's going to make you feel small here about the years you stayed away or how your teeth got to where they are. You'll be told what's going on in your mouth and what can be done about it, and you stay in control of every decision from there.
One of our long-term patients, Kaaren, put it like this in her Google review: "I was a nervy patient - like really bad - but I'm not now." She'd avoided treatment for years, and she's now been with us for more than a decade with her dental health in genuinely good shape.
For patients who need more support than reassurance alone, the practice offers dental anxiety management, including sedation options, and the team will happily talk you through those at your consultation. Mention how you're feeling when you come in. It changes how we pace things, and it's information we want to have.
If another clinic has handed you a treatment plan and something about it doesn't sit right, whether that's the price, the amount of work proposed, or just a feeling you got in the room, this is exactly what our complimentary second opinion consultation is for.
Bring the original plan with you. We'll go through it against our S.A.F.E approach, which weighs every recommendation for stability, aesthetics, function and empowerment, and give you a plain breakdown of what you may have been told elsewhere. Sometimes the plan you're holding is sound, and we'll tell you so. You lose nothing by having it checked. Other times there's a simpler path, a more durable one, or work in the plan you don't need at all, and you'll want to know that before you've paid for it.
The consultation is valued at $250 and is complimentary for new patients considering cosmetic or restorative treatment. It includes a proper cosmetic consultation and evaluation of the plan you bring in, with your options laid out side by side so you can make the call with everything in front of you.
Whatever you decide afterwards, you'll walk out understanding your own mouth better than you did walking in.
Fair thing to check before you give anyone your time. A lot of clinics show polished stock photos and call it proof, so it's worth knowing what you can verify about this practice yourself before you come in.
Sydney Cosmetic Dentist has operated in Bondi Junction since 2006, with every case treated by Dr Peter Poulos himself rather than being passed around a roster of clinicians. The practice holds 4.9 stars on Google, and those reviews are public. Read them before your consultation, including the critical ones, and see what patients say in their own words.
Then look at the Patient Journeys section of our website. The cases there are documented patients of this practice, with the before and after photography shown openly, covering full veneer cases, smile design work and full-arch implant treatment.
When you come in, ask to see cases like yours. If your situation resembles something we've treated before, the team can walk you through how that case was planned and what the patient's process looked like. You shouldn't have to take anyone's word for it, ours included, when the evidence can be put in front of you.

Hi,
Your complimentary consultation is locked in. We're at Shop 2, Eclipse Building, 1 Adelaide Street, Bondi Junction, and the front desk will be expecting you.
A little about what the visit involves, so nothing on the day comes as a surprise:
- A proper look at your teeth, including photographs and any scans we need, so the conversation is based on your actual mouth rather than assumptions.
- A conversation about what you'd like your smile to look like, and what's been holding you back from doing something about it.
- If you've been given a treatment plan by another dentist, bring it with you. Part of what we do at a second-opinion consultation is go through that plan with you and explain what it does and doesn't cover.
There's no treatment at this appointment and nothing to commit to. You'll leave knowing where your teeth stand and what your options look like, and you can take that home and sit with it for as long as you like.
If you'd like a feel for the practice before you come in, the before-and-after cases on our website show the kind of work we do: https://sydneycosmeticdentist.com.au/patient-journeys/

Send: Day 1, morning
Hi,
The question most people carry into a first visit is what all of this will cost, so it deserves an answer before you're sitting in the chair.
Your consultation itself is complimentary. The second-opinion consultation we offer new patients is valued at $250, and you pay nothing for it.
Treatment pricing is a different thing, and there's a reason you won't find a price menu on our website. A smile makeover is designed around your teeth, your face and how much work your case actually needs, so two patients asking for the same thing can end up with quite different plans. A number quoted before we've examined you would be a guess, and we'd rather not guess with your money.
What you can expect instead: after your consultation you'll receive a written treatment plan with the full cost set out, before anything begins. There are also payment plan options through Smile Right and Humm, and SuperCare can help eligible patients access superannuation for major treatment, so the way you pay can be shaped around you as well.
If it helps to see figures beforehand, our price list is available as a download here: https://sydneycosmeticdentist.com.au/price-list/

Subject: What one implant patient said afterwards
Preview: A recent Google review from an implant patient, and what sat behind it.
Send: Day 1, afternoon
Hi,
Reviews written by us would be worthless, so this one is written by a patient. Megan came in for implant surgery, which is about as daunting as dentistry gets, and left this on Google afterwards:
"I had my implant surgery done here and had a really positive experience. Peter was excellent from start to finish. He put me completely at ease, explained everything clearly and made what I was expecting to be a stressful procedure feel very manageable."
What sat behind that review is the same process you'll see at your consultation. Every case at this practice is planned before it's touched: a thorough examination, photographs and scans first, then a clear explanation of what we found and what we recommend, in order, with nothing sprung on you partway through. Patients relax when they can see the whole road ahead, and that's deliberate.
Megan's case is one of many. We hold a 4.9-star rating on Google, and you're welcome to read the rest before you come in. If you'd rather look than read, the before-and-after gallery is here: https://sydneycosmeticdentist.com.au/patient-journeys/

Subject: The fear of the fake-looking result
Preview: You preview the result on your own face before anything is done to your teeth.
Send: Day 2, morning
Hi,
The worry we hear most from smile makeover patients is some version of: I've seen veneers that look like a row of bathroom tiles, and I don't want that.
Neither do we, and the process itself is what prevents it. Every smile we design starts with your face. Digital Smile Design lets us plan the result on your own features and show it to you before treatment begins, so you're approving a preview of your smile rather than trusting a description of it. If something about the preview doesn't feel like you, we adjust the design, and nothing touches your teeth until you're happy.
The Perfect 10™ system behind our veneer work was developed over 20 years, and every set is hand-made porcelain, shaped and shaded to your defining features rather than pulled from a catalogue. What we're after is a smile that people notice without being able to say why, because it belongs on your face.
You can judge the results for yourself in the gallery: https://sydneycosmeticdentist.com.au/patient-journeys/

Subject: Five questions to ask any cosmetic dentist
Preview: A short list you can use at any practice, including ours.
Send: Day 2, afternoon
Hi,
A list you can use whether you end up in our chair or someone else's. Whoever you see about your smile, ask them these five things:
- Who actually does the work? In some clinics the dentist who consults isn't the one who treats. Here, every case is planned and delivered by the same principal dentist, practising cosmetic dentistry since 2004.
- Can I see the result before committing? Ask for a digital preview on your own face. If the answer is no, you're being asked to buy blind.
- Have you treated cases like mine? Ask to see before-and-after photos of teeth that started where yours are, since a lovely gallery of easy cases tells you little.
- What material is being used, and where is it made? Hand-made porcelain and a mass-produced blank are very different things sitting on your teeth for the next decade.
- What exactly does the quote include? Scans, temporaries, follow-up visits and adjustments can sit inside one quote and outside another, which changes what a number really costs.
Bring the list on the day if you like. We're glad to answer all five.

Subject: If you're nervous about this appointment
Preview: Plenty of our patients avoided dentists for years. One of them explains what changed.
Send: Day 3, morning
Hi,
Quite a few of the people who book with us haven't sat in a dental chair for years, and most of them expect a lecture about it when they arrive. That lecture doesn't happen here. You won't be judged for the state of your teeth or how long it's been, because shame has never once helped a patient get treated.
Kaaren, who has been coming to the practice for over ten years, put it this way in her Google review:
"I was a nervy patient - like really bad - but I'm not now. And my mouth health is really good, which makes me so happy! So to the nervy, tooth challenged ones out there give him a go; I think you'll be pleasantly surprised"
If anxiety is a real barrier for you, tell us when you arrive, or reply to this email beforehand so we know before you walk in. We manage dental anxiety every week, sedation options are available for treatment, and the pace of your consultation is set by you. Nothing happens in that room without your say-so.

Subject: Comparing quotes from different dentists
Preview: Two quotes for the same smile can describe very different treatment. How to read them.
Send: Day 3, midday
Hi,
If you already have a quote from another practice, bring it to your consultation. Going through other dentists' treatment plans with patients is a normal part of what we do, and it's exactly what the second-opinion consultation is for.
When you put two quotes side by side, the bottom line is the least informative number on the page. The differences that decide what you actually get live in the detail:
- Whether the plan treats the cause or just the appearance. A smile built on unstable foundations needs redoing, and redone work costs more than work done properly once.
- What the quote includes. Scans, temporaries, review appointments and adjustments are inside some quotes and billed on top in others.
- Who does the work and what they've done before. Ask to see completed cases like yours.
- Which lab makes the porcelain, and whether it's hand-made for you or ordered off a shelf.
At your consultation we'll go through your existing plan line by line and tell you what we'd do differently, if anything. Sometimes the answer is that the plan you have is sound, and you'll hear that from us too.

Send: Day 3, afternoon (or morning of the visit if the appointment is early)
Hi,
Your consultation is tomorrow, at Shop 2, Eclipse Building, 1 Adelaide Street, Bondi Junction. Arriving a few minutes early gives the front desk time to sort your paperwork before you're seen.
Worth bringing, if you have them:
- Any treatment plan or quote from another dentist
- Recent x-rays or scans, if a previous practice gave you copies
- The questions from our earlier email, or your own list
You don't need any of it, though. If you arrive with nothing but yourself, the consultation works exactly the same.
If tomorrow no longer suits, reply to this email or phone the practice on 02 5502 1236 and we'll find you another time, no trouble at all.

Subject: Why some veneers look fake
You can spot bad veneers from across a room. Too white, too square, identical on every face that walks out of the same clinic. It's the fear we hear most often at consultation: people want to change their smile and are worried about ending up looking like they bought one.
The fake look has a cause. Those veneers were designed on a bench, to a standard shape and shade, with no reference to the face they'd live in. A length that suits a long narrow face looks wrong on a rounder one, and a shade that flatters olive skin turns chalky against a fair complexion. Teeth read as natural when they agree with the lips and proportions around them, and read as false the moment they don't.
That's why every Perfect 10™ case starts with your face. Ten porcelain veneers are hand-made for you alone, and through Digital Smile Design you see the finished result on photographs of your own smile before a single tooth is touched.

Subject: If it's been years
A surprising number of the people we see haven't sat in a dental chair for five or ten years. It usually starts with one rough experience or one lecture, and after that it gets easier to keep putting the next visit off. The longer it goes, the more uncomfortable the thought of the appointment becomes, which keeps the whole thing going.
If that's you, you'll be in familiar company here. Whatever state your teeth are in, we've seen it before, and the first consultation starts with what you'd like to change rather than a commentary on how things got this way. Nothing goes ahead until you've understood the plan and agreed to it.
One patient, who first came to us as an anxious avoider and has now been with the practice for more than ten years, put it this way in her Google review: "I was a nervy patient - like really bad - but I'm not now. And my mouth health is really good, which makes me so happy!"
Getting from where she started to where she ended up took less courage than she expected. The hardest appointment is the first one.

Subject: Before you accept a treatment plan
At some point, most people considering cosmetic work end up holding a treatment plan from a clinic, deciding whether to go ahead. A few things are worth checking before you sign.
Start with the reasons. Every item on the plan should carry an explanation you could repeat back to a friend. If it says crown and nobody has told you why a crown rather than something more conservative, that's a question to ask before anything else.
Then look at the order of work. Sound cosmetic dentistry deals with the health of the mouth first, because veneers bonded over an unstable bite or untreated gum trouble tend to fail early, however good they look on day one. A plan that jumps straight to the visible work without a word about what sits underneath deserves a second look.
We evaluate treatment plans from other clinics for new patients as a standing offer, and we'll cover how that works in a coming email. For now, keep the plan and keep asking questions until every line on it makes sense to you.

Subject: What happens before veneers
A porcelain veneer has two jobs: looking like a natural tooth, and surviving years of everything you bite into. Most of the work that decides whether it manages both happens before the porcelain exists.
Your first visit with us is a comprehensive examination, with photographs plus an OPG and a CT scan, so treatment is planned from a complete picture of your mouth instead of a quick look and a guess. From there, the case is planned under our S.A.F.E approach, which puts the stability of your bite and the health of what the veneers attach to ahead of anything cosmetic. Porcelain placed on a solid foundation behaves itself for years, while the same porcelain placed over an unresolved problem becomes an expensive way to hide it for a short while.
Only then does the design work begin, with Digital Smile Design showing you the intended result on your own photographs before treatment starts. By the time anything is made, there are no open questions about what you're getting or why.
Sydney Cosmetic Dentist
Subject: The cost question
You may have noticed we don't publish treatment prices on our website. Until we've actually examined your teeth, any number would be a guess, and guesses in either direction serve nobody. What we can tell you about is how paying for treatment works here.
Every case is quoted individually after your examination, in writing, before anything begins, and nothing proceeds until you've agreed to it. There are no surprises added along the way, because the plan you approve is the plan that gets carried out.
For larger treatment, payment plans through providers such as Smile Right and Humm let you spread the cost over time, and eligible patients can apply through SuperCare to access superannuation for major dental work. A full price list is also available on request through our website.
If cost has been the thing keeping you from finding out what's possible, the sensible move is to get your actual number rather than live with an imagined one.
Sydney Cosmetic Dentist
Subject: Complimentary second opinion consultation
If you've been given a treatment plan by another clinic and something about it doesn't sit right, whether the scope, the cost or the way it was explained, we can look at it with you.
We run a standing offer for new patients: a complimentary second opinion consultation, valued at $250. You bring the original treatment plan from the other dentist, and you receive a cosmetic consultation together with an evaluation of what you've been told, planned under the same S.A.F.E approach we use for our own cases. Often we agree with the plan you already have, and we'll tell you so. Where we don't, you'll leave knowing exactly what differs and why, and you can make the decision from there.
The practice has been in Bondi Junction since 2006 and holds 4.9 stars on Google.
To book, use the consultation booking form on our website or phone the practice, and mention the second opinion consultation when you do. It applies to cosmetic and restorative treatment, and the original treatment plan is what makes the evaluation possible, so please have it with you.
